William Davies
Director & CEO

William co-founded Ptarmigan Capital and is responsible for client relationships and business growth.  He has over a decade of experience working with private clients across their affairs.  A former Army officer, William spent five years in the Light Dragoons, completing two operational tours of Afghanistan. William started his financial career at JPMorgan, moving to roles at Credit Suisse and HBS London before co-founding Ptarmigan Capital in 2023.  He is PCIAM qualified and has a degree in english and classics from the University of Newcastle.

Douglas Barnett
Director & Head of Investment Management

Douglas co-founded Ptarmigan Capital and is responsible for managing client portfolios and relationships. Prior to this he was a Director at Waverton Investment Management where he ran portfolios on behalf of Private Clients. During his time at Waverton he wrote and presented the award winning Why Invest? podcast and in 2021 he was included in the PAM Top 40 Under 40. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, holds the Investment Management Certificate, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Designation, and a degree in chemistry from the University of Edinburgh.

Charles Jones, CFA
Director & CIO

Charles co-founded Ptarmigan Capital and is responsible for the investment management process.  He previously spent 9 years at Waverton Investment Management where he co-managed the Waverton Global Equity Fund, the Waverton Strategic Equity Fund, and provided US equity research recommendations to the firm.  He is a CFA charterholder, holds the Investment Management Certificate, and has a first class master’s degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Durham.

Ed Roe, CFA
Senior Portfolio Manager

Ed joined Ptarmigan Capital in 2024 as a Senior Portfolio Manager, responsible for the management of client portfolios as well as supporting the investment management process. He previously spent seven years at Ruffer LLP where he ran portfolios for a range of charities, trusts and pension schemes and supported the management of Ruffer’s flagship funds. He is a CFA charterholder, holds the Investment Management Certificate, is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and has a degree in physics from the University of Oxford.

Andrew Case
Head of Compliance

Andrew holds the SMF16 (head of compliance) and SMF17 (head of anti-money laundering) roles at Ptarmigan.  He has worked in law and compliance for over 30 years including experience at Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley.  He is a member of the New York and Connecticut bars, and holds a BA (magna cum laude) from Yale University and a JD from Columbia University.

Philippe Hancock
Director

In 2003, Philippe co-founded HBS SA, a successful multi-family office based in Geneva. Philippe joined BNP Paribas (Suisse) SA in 1986, he worked for 17 years as Senior Banker in the International Credit department and joined the Executive Committee. In 1996, he moved to the Private Bank team and ran the Swiss, UK, Scandinavian and Eastern European markets for BNP Paribas Private Bank globally. He is a director of a number of companies, including Ptarmigan Capital, and acts as strategic advisor to several families. He holds a degree in economics from the University of Geneva with a major in law.

William Hanbury
Advisor

William Hanbury is a consultant and advisor to hedge funds and asset managers. He was a top quartile fund manager at Waverton, managing the $120m Asia-Pacific Fund from 2013-2021. Before Waverton he was a director at Active Capital Management, which specialises in quantitative trading. He graduated with a master’s degree in economics from Edinburgh University in 2004 and has a broad experience of financial markets having worked in equity analysis, derivative structuring and trading.

Richard Stockley
Advisor

Richard has over ten years’ experience commercialising and scaling novel technology developing strategy, building teams, and operationalising sales & strategic partnerships. His interests lie in matching the capabilities of raw technology with the capacity of organisations, and converting marketing opportunity into disciplined sales execution. He has held senior roles at both successful start-ups (currencycloud, Vinawoman) and large corporates (Visa, IBM). Richard has a master’s from Cambridge University and an undergraduate degree in engineering.
